When Jonas turned twelve, he is singled out to receive special training from the Giver. The Giver alone holds the memories of the true pain and pleasure of life. Now it's time for Jonas to receive the truth. There is no turning back.

My view: The book is written so beautifully and shows views in every aspect. Jonas (the main character) shows growth and development throughout the unfolding of this story. His growth as a character just makes you fall in love with him and how Lowry writes him a magnificent storyline. If you liked the book then catch the movie it is one of the closest movies to the book I have ever seen.
